    EHR: Friend or Foe

    Presentation Abstract:

    Through case studies, and lessons learned, this webinar will review the importance of assuring that documentation policies are current, which includes following the current Medicare guidelines for documentation.  The session will also review the best practices for; training, support, accurate data entry, consistent use of fields and workflow analysis of the EHR. 

    Learning Objectives: 

    • Identify EHR concerns including Prompts and Alerts
    • Understand the components of Metadata and what it can tell you and show you
    • Discuss how Information errors occur within the EHR that are often Ignored, overlooked, not understood and/or hidden

    Review the basic EHR Do’s, Don’ts and important policies for documentation in the EHR.

    Speaker Bio: 

    Veronica has been with Professional Solutions for ten years and has 20 years of experience providing risk management consulting services to healthcare professionals. Throughout her career, she has worked with individual physicians and large clinic groups providing personalized service enhancing risk compliance among administrators, office managers and physicians. Veronica has presented several risk management seminars covering malpractice topics pertinent to physicians and their staff throughout the Mid-West.

    A native of Chicago, IL, Veronica received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and her master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign. Veronica is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), Certified HIPAA Professional (CHP) and obtained her CHTS-PW certification which she actively uses to assist physician practices with electronic health records (EHR) workflow analysis.
